A new Board of Directors has been appointed for Ghana Premier League side, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, by the Owner and Life Patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
An official statement issued by Manhyia Palace on Friday, February 27, confirmed the constitution of the new board.
It said, “His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has appointed a new Board of Directors for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.”
The statement named Mr. James Osei Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction, as Chairman of the Board, with Mr. Kwasi Osei Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure, serving as Vice-Chairman.
Other members include Mr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rigworld Group.
According to the statement, the newly constituted board is expected to assume its statutory oversight responsibilities with immediate effect.
However, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) will continue to handle the day-to-day management of the club until the end of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season.
The Chief of Staff at Manhyia, Mr. Kofi Badu, presided over a meeting on Friday where the new Board was formally introduced to the Interim Management Committee and urged both sides to collaborate to ensure a smooth transition.
Speaking at the meeting, Board Chairman Mr. Osei Brown assured stakeholders of the Board’s resolve to reposition Asante Kotoko to its rightful status and encouraged the management team to intensify efforts in the remaining weeks of the season.
For his part, Nana Akwasi Awuah Apinkrah, Chairman of the IMC, welcomed the new Board and pledged the committee’s full support throughout the transition period.
