Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have moved up one spot to 75th in the latest FIFA world rankings, following their September World Cup qualifying matches.

The team, led by head coach Otto Addo, earned a 1-1 draw against Chad before edging Mali 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium. These results not only strengthened Ghana’s grip on top spot in Group I but also contributed to their slight rise in the global standings.

On the continental front, however, the four-time African champions remain 14th in Africa, maintaining their previous position.

Reacting to the update, Coach Addo described the progress as “encouraging,” while emphasizing the need for greater consistency.

“The elephant in the room is always consistency, but we have shown resilience, and I believe we can improve further,” he said after the win over Mali.

Ghana currently lead Group I with 19 points from eight matches, three points ahead of Madagascar. Comoros sit third with 15 points, while Mali—once seen as Ghana’s biggest threat have slipped to fourth with 12 points, effectively falling out of contention.
