Former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan reveals extending a helping hand to the needy in the society played a massive role in his successful football career.

Ahead of his book launch at the Kempinski hotel, the all time top Ghanaian scorer shared part his life beginning, challenges and success to create suspense for the official book launch day.

According to Gyan, some footballers do rely on various means to help them achieve success in their career but helping the needy has always been his priority in life.

“My “juju” is all about doing good to people. That is giving out to the needy” he told Angel fm, Accra.

“I will urge everybody to do good. Help people, their words go a long way to affect you in life and these things help man to become successful” he added.

Gyan further revealed the strangest thing he has witnessed throughout his career having played in Africa, Europe and Asia.

“The strange thing I saw during my time in Europe was when I went to Turkey. Before a game, they slaughter a sheep in front of the bus, then in India, before the league season starts, they take us to the shrine for fortification,” he said.

The former AFC Sunderland striker is Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 106 appearances and joint Africa’s world cup top scorer with 6 goals.
