Bofoakwa Tano chairman Yaw Boateng has entreated the GFA to consider opening a “Go fund me” account for donations once it’s struggling to secure sponsorship for the Ghana premier league for years.

The Ghana premier league has been held without title sponsorship for a couple of seasons due to what some football enthusiasts tag as unattractive to corporate sponsorship, zero reputation and lack of competition in the elite division of Ghana football.

The 2021/22 season started without a title sponsorship package for the 18 clubs and with just 4 matches to end the season, it’s very likely the season will end barren with no sponsorship.

The official 2021/22 Ghana premier league broadcasting right holder, Startimes disbursement a “meagre” GH¢50,000 each to the 18 clubs as their television right money.

According to the former Black Stars management committee member, the GFA should open an account to solicit funds from rich men and players plying their trade abroad to cater for the league financially.

“Since the Ghana league has struggled to secure sponsorship for years, I will entreat the FA to open a Go fund account so that rich Ghanaians in the diaspora will support,” He told Angel FM, Accra.

“Partey, Amartey and Co may donate” he added.

Ghana premier league is facing a reputation crisis due to the alleged rampant fixed matches.
