Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, have secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States following a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mohammed Kudus delivered the decisive goal early in the second half, sealing Ghana’s qualification and ending Comoros’ recent dominance, which included back-to-back wins over the Black Stars.
This qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage, with their debut coming in 2006.
In a notable comeback, defender Alidu Seidu returned to the starting lineup after a long-term ACL injury that had sidelined him for several months. His impressive form at Stade Rennais earned him a well-deserved recall for this crucial encounter.
The victory has reignited national pride and optimism as the Black Stars prepare to once again represent Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
