Asante Kotoko came from behind to defeat arch rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 in a thrilling encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 6, securing their ninth President’s Cup title. The Porcupine Warriors showed resilience after going behind in the first half, with goalkeeper Mohammed Camara redeeming himself late in the game by saving a crucial penalty to preserve the lead.

Hearts took the lead in the 27th minute after a rare error from Camara, who failed to hold onto a cross, allowing Hamza Issah to tap into an empty net. Kotoko responded with urgency but failed to break through before halftime. They came out firing in the second half, however, and quickly found the equaliser. Peter Amidu Acquah’s powerful run and shot deflected off defender Konadu Yiadom and into the net to make it 1-1. Just a minute later, Kotoko struck again Kwame Poku finishing calmly into an empty net after receiving a perfectly timed square ball.

Hearts had a goal ruled out for offside and were later awarded a penalty. Emmanuel Amankwah stepped up but was denied by Camara, whose save proved decisive. Despite late pressure from Hearts of Oak, Kotoko held firm to claim victory and another President’s Cup triumph.
