AFCON 2023 is postponed to January 2024 with the host Ivory Coast unchanged.

At the CAF Executive Committee presser, Patrice Motsepe the CAF President declared that because due to climate change that may occur in the host country the competition has been scheduled for January 2024

The 34th edition was to be played in June/July 2023 but the fear of the rains which can in a way distract the flow of games has caused adjournment.

With most of the stadiums in Africa not having a quality drains system, the dry season is the best climate.
