As the saying goes “You reap what you sow” is exactly what experienced coach Maxwell Konadu has found himself at Kotoko currently.

Competing at the highest level as a football club is about consistency therefore it doesn’t sound prudent to change players season by season and expect manner to fall from heaven.
We have been eulogizing the North African teams for their consistent dominance in CAF inter-club competitions citing only huge investment as the only secret of their dominance but we fail to turn our attention on their consistency in maintaining their key players in respective positions.

Maxwell Konadu was building a formidable side in the 2019/20 season which needed about 2 full seasons to get together but unfortunately, a couple of that 2019/20 squad have been exchanged for average players.
Is it not surprising that an elite team like Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to come into agreement with Medeama SC to maintain key players like Justice Blay, Is it not interesting that an elite side like Kotoko failed to meet GH4, 000 a month demands of creative player Maxwell Baako.
Releasing Empem Dacosta at the expense of a division one player like Andrews Appau from Bofoakwa Tano makes “no sense”.
Agyemang Badu decided not to extend the contract but a top team like Kotoko should have done anything possible to maintain such a robust defender.
A creative player like Martin Antwi has been distanced from the main team for no tangible reason.

It is with no doubt that the majority of the players who were brought in for the ongoing 2020/21 season are not the recommendations of coach Maxwell Konadu and is very intriguing how a former Black stars assistant coach will stoop so low for management to impose players on him in terms of transfers.
Evans Adomako, a former Phar Rangers player has that affiliation with Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah and after an unsuccessful career in Europe was forced on Coach Maxwell Konadu at Kotoko to relaunch his dwindling career, but upon several chances, Adomako has indicated that he isn’t eligible to wear the shirt of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
He takes home GH6, 000 a month while an experienced player like Naby Keita has been denied the bench this season for no reason.

Moreover, Maxwell Konadu can’t convince anyone that he recommended Brazilian import, Fabio Gama, to Kotoko, and interestingly he is the highest-paid player at Kotoko with $2,000 a month but yet to kick a ball this season and the only flimsy excuse from management is unsuccessful documentation…
Sulley Muniru Sariki and Patrick Asmah who are on a whopping $1,800 and $1,500 monthly salary have added anything positive to the team and Coach Maxwell Konadu can never convince anyone that they were not imposed on him.

Nana Yaw Amponsah and his “galactico” management team are considered as a blessing to the Kotoko family due to how they are taking the team to the corporate world but if care is not taking Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO will be one day remembered as the worst Kotoko CEO ever due to his influence in player transfers and the attitude to force coaches to use players affiliated to Nana Yaw Amponsah as club CEO.

Today Maxwell Konadu has been used as a scapegoat after doing the bidding of some management members and he deserves the sack…
