Former Asante Kotoko player, Malik Jabir has indicated that Kotoko should win Sunday’s super clash against rivals, Hearts of oak irrespective of the marathon points gap.

The Porcupine warriors, though favorite to claim the 2021/22 Ghana premier league with their consistent scintillating performance but are much determined to silence Accra Hearts of oak in the 2nd leg of the league at the Baba Yara stadium after playing a 0-0 stalemate in the 1st leg and succumbing to a defeat in a Presidential cup to Hearts of oak.

Scores of Asante Kotoko supporters believe, winning the league without beating their bitterest rivals, Hearts of oak wouldn’t make the celebration complete.

Malik Jabir, an ex player and coach of the former African champions share the same sentiments and concerns of the supporters and would even prefer beating Hearts of oak than winning the league due to bragging rights.

“As for the league, we are winning considering the consistent performance and attitude of the Kotoko players but the ultimate thing is to beat Hearts in Kumasi to claim the bragging rights” He told Kessben fm.

“I can’t take a defeat from Hearts of oak right from my playing and coaching days at Kotoko due to their harsh and bitter words therefore i prefer Kotoko beating Hearts than winning the league”

“I recall as a coach at Kotoko, I lost by 1-0 to Hearts of oak in Kumasi and due to the sadness i “blindly” drove all the way to airport roundabout instead of Asafo where I was living” He added

The former Ghana star also commended Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for working on the discipline level of the players because Kotoko paid huge sum of money last season to the GFA due to indiscipline.

The match day 24 Super clash fixture between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of oak has moved from the initial 6:00pm to 3:00pm due to security advice from the Ghana police service.
