The 2023 African Cup of Nations will now be held in January/February 2024.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on Ghanaians to support the Black star’s players, take good care of them and stop giving too much audience to their match bonuses.

Ghana booked its first world cup ticket in 2006 under the administration of President Kufuor.

Section of Ghanaians has developed a hate for the senior national team due to consistent demand for huge bonuses from players and recent poor performances, notably the “1” point accumulation at AFCON 2021, held in Cameroon.

According to the former Asante Kotoko board chairman, Ghanaians should understand that football has become business hence the need to treasure these Black stars players, give them good care and limit the talk on their bonuses.

“When we give them a bonus, we tend to talk too much. You hear them say why is one player taking $5,000” he told the media

“We should treasure these youth, who come in to play for us. Football has become a business”

“The players, many of them are playing internationally and are paid well by their teams. I’m not saying Ghana should compete with these clubs but the point is since the game depends on these individuals, it should be in the interest of the nation to give them good care” he added.

The Ghana football association have retained Otto Addo, George Boateng, Mas Ud Didi Dramani and Chris Hughton as technical men to lead the senior national team for AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
