The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Carlos Queiroz as Head Coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The appointment was announced in a social media post, with the Portuguese tactician expected to assume duty immediately as Ghana intensifies preparations for the global showpiece.
Queiroz brings a wealth of international experience, having previously managed top clubs including Real Madrid and served as assistant coach at Manchester United.
At the national team level, he has handled sides such as Portugal national football team and Iran national football team, among others, and has featured in multiple FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, is scheduled to kick off on June 11.
Ghana will be aiming to build on its past performances as it prepares for the expanded tournament, with Queiroz tasked to guide the team through the qualification process and into the competition.
