The President’s Cup, held annually in honor of Ghana’s sitting President, has long served as a platform to celebrate unity, leadership, and the enduring spirit of Ghanaian football.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in partnership with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has officially announced that the 2025 edition will feature a blockbuster encounter between Ghanaian football giants Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC.

Scheduled for Tuesday, 1st July 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium, the match coincides with Ghana’s Republic Day a date of national significance. This year’s event is expected to blend sporting excellence with patriotic celebration, making it one of the most anticipated editions in recent memory.

The decision follows extensive consultations between the Ministry and GHALCA, both of whom agreed that a clash between the nation’s two most decorated clubs is the ideal fixture to mark the holiday.

With their storied rivalry and passionate fan bases, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are poised to deliver a thrilling contest. Organisers say the match will not only determine the day’s victor but also serve as a tribute to Ghana’s rich sporting culture and national pride.

Further details, including ticket information, kickoff time, and a lineup of side attractions, are expected to be released by GHALCA in the coming days.

The 2025 President’s Cup promises more than just a football match it is set to be a national spectacle.
