Belgian football forward Romelu Lukaku has revealed he was not ready for a return to Chelsea after his spell at Italian giant Inter Millan.
Romelu Lukaku made a comeback to the Bridge from Inter in the summer of 2021 for £98m and went back to his former team on loan at the start of the season.
However, the 29-year-old has struggled for consistency at the San Siro, scoring just seven goals in 24 games and eventually missing significant periods of the season due to injury.
According to Lukaku, moving to Chelsea in 2021 was a rush thus he was not fully ready for that chapter.
“I was good at Chelsea last season. But I knew then that if it didn’t work out at Chelsea, I still had Inter.”- he said.
However, he added that he knows he feels welcome here (Inter) and that encourages him to be at his best.
“When I signed again, I knew: I belong here. I had that too at Anderlecht. I take this club seriously. I want to do my best. The people here see that. Being encouraged here is the best thing there is.”- he added.
