Two late goals from Abdul Ganiyu and Samuel Boateng secured the Porcupine Warriors their second win of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season after defeating Bechem United.

Emmanuel Avornyo was presented with the biggest chance of the game by the ninth minute as he came on one with Razak Abalora but the lanky striker could not round him.
Ten minutes later, Kotoko’s Samuel Boateng was played by Fabio Gama but the striker was unable to beat goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu with his shot.

The game looked balanced in the first half as both clubs had few goals glaring opportunities but they failed to make it count.

In the final minutes of the first half, Asante Kotoko kept mounting pressure on the visitors but none of their efforts got them the opener as it ended in a dull stalemate.

Back from the break, Bechem United looked very calm up front as the home side continued to dominate the game.

Asante Kotoko introduced Richard Boadu, Isaac Oppong and George Mfegue as replacements for Stephen Amankona, Joseph Amoako and Fabio Gama respectively.

The Porcupine Warriors kept knocking for the opener which eventually came via a spot-kick after Isaac Oppong was fouled in the 18-yard box by Dennis Mosaka in the 83rd minute of the game.

Skipper Abdul Ganiyu elected himself to neatly convert the penalty into the back of Iddrisu Abdulai’s net to open the floodgate for Asante Kotoko at the renovated Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Newly-signed forward Samuel Boateng registered his first-ever goal for Asante Kotoko with a brilliant header through a cross delivered by Imoro Ibrahim in the dying minutes to end the fixture in a 2-0 win for Asante Kotoko.
