Algeria came against Sierra Leone in their first group stage game in the ongoing 2021 AFCON.

Sierra Leone being the underdogs gave an outstanding performance that denied the defending champions a win

In that game, the star man for the team was Mohammed Kamara the goalkeeper. Though the collective nature of the Leone stars was so immense making it very difficult for the 2021 Arab Cup winners to penetrate whenever duties call on Kamara, he responds.

A fantastic save he made to deny Yacine Brahimi a clear cut opportunity in a 1 on 1 situation was more than enough for him to be the standout player in the team.

From the 56th minute to the end of the game, it was Mohammed Kamara vs Algeria.
The Algerians have taken dominance of the play and they were taking the game to the Sierra Leoneans. The only surviving factor for the team under immense pressure was the goalkeeper. With 10 solid saves and 4 reflexes, every eye that was fixed on the game could tell that undoubtedly the East End Lions Club goalie deserves the Man Of The Match award.

At the blast of the final whistle to end proceedings, all the players of the entire Sierra Leoneans ran to him with a deep hug. The amazing scene was when Riyard Mahrez, the Algerian captain and Man City star pattered him at the back and hugged him. No one can tell what exactly the pacey winger was telling him at the spot but the look on Mahrez tells his amazement from the performance given by the goalkeeper. Almost all the players on the opposing side shared pleasantries with him.

At the post-match interview, it was all tears of joy. He attributed his solid performance to the collective effort of the team and God for his grace.

Mohammed Kamara is the first goalkeeper to be awarded the Man Of The Match in the ongoing tournament. The second is Ali Abdullai Eshrein from Sudan.
