South African football association CEO, Tebogo Mothlanthe is calling for a probe from both CAF and FIFA
after a world cup qualifying Group G defeat to Ghana.
Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye awarded a 31st mins penalty to Ghana after Daniel Amartey was fouled in the 18-yard box by Rushine Stanley de Reuk which was converted by Andre Morgan Ayew in the 33rd mins.
The South African football body is not only questioning the alleged dubious penalty but some decisions by the Senegalese referee and his colleague’s prompt suspicion of match-fixing.
“We suspect the game was fixed and our position is that it must be investigated. The conduct of the match officials left much to be desired and we want both Caf and Fifa to investigate. ,” Motlanthe told Timeslive.
“We salute the boys and the technical team for the good work they have done” he added.
Ghana Black Stars topped Group G with 13 points to qualify for the final round of world cup qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar mundial.
