All eyes and attention are in Rabat as the Total Energies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament is still in progress. With every country expecting to put up a good performance, Ghana on the other hand is hoping to book a spot in next year’s Olympic games in Paris after missing out since 2024.
Shot stopper and deputy captain of the Black Meteors of Ghana Danlad Ibrahim has revealed the intention of the squad as they are willing to go all out to qualify.
The Black Meteors will face the host nation Morocco tonight in their group A second match encounter. Winning against Morocco will be a big statement and however, push them to the last 4 of the competition.
Meeting with the press Danlad made it clear that they know what it’s at stake and they are fully prepared to go all out.
“We know what is at stake tomorrow. If we win, we qualify for the next stage of the competition,” he said.
“We will just learn from our mistakes from the previous game. We will go all out and concentrate for 90 minutes and we know we will win.”
Ghana almost gave away a 3-0 lead in the second half against Congo with the latter scoring two goals in additional time, a move Danlad believes was due to the inexperience of the team.
“After the game against Congo, all the players were not happy because of what happened and it’s normal. A lot of us have not got this kind of experience. I know what can come when you lose concentration at some point in a game,” he added.
“With the technical team, they will just bring everyone on board and know how to go in the next game.”
However, the Black Meteors sit in the top spot in Group A after a win in their opening game.
