The U-23 AFCON tournament is set to begin next month, however, preparation to compete at the highest level and book a place in next year’s Olympics in Paris has been the call for many Ghanaians and football lovers.
However assistant coach of the Black Meteors, Coach Michael Osei believes that the guys will do everything possible in other to achieve this target as they hope to make it this time around.
“It is a difficult group but we are ready for any of the countries we will face at the tournament. In 2019, we had the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics but we blew it away after placing fourth. I can see we’ve got experience, it’s been years since we qualified for the Olympics and I believe Ghanaians are all poised about qualification, so we are ready for it”- he said.
“We have a leader in Ibrahim Tanko, who is one of the best coaches in the country, myself, Godwin Attram and others, so I think it is another big opportunity for us to grab. We are determined for this tournament, we will do the right things and go the extra mile to qualify, truth be told, we can’t fail Ghanaians this time around”- he added
However, the tournament will serve as a qualification competition for next year’s summer Olympic Games in Paris.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko is expected to name a strong squad for the competition, which begins on June 23 and ends on July 8, as Ghana eyes a return to the Olympic Games.
