The Slovenian lawyer and football Administrator, Aleksander Cerferin has secured another 4 years term as UEFA President at the Ordinary Congress of European soccer’s governing body in Lisbon till 2027.
The 56-year-old Football Administrator went unopposed as he got the nod to extend his stay as the president of UEFA.
The Slovenian football official succeeded Frenchman Michel Platini, who resigned in early 2016 after he had been suspended from all football-related activities for four years.
Ceferin was elected as UEFA’s 7th president in September 2016. He won the election at an extraordinary UEFA congress in Athens having received 42 votes, while his only rival, UEFA vice president Michael van Praag, secured 13 votes.
The new UEFA president was elected for the term of two and a half years until the election at the 43rd Ordinary UEFA Congress.
