Former Vice president of the Ghana Football Association and football administrator George Afriyie has raised concerns about the suspension of the Obuasi-based club, Ashanti Gold. Ashanti Gold was temporarily suspended by the Disciplinary Committee of the FA after their match-fixing scandal two seasons later, however a motion by the Black Stars Team Manager Ameenu Shadow to suspend Ashanti Gold indefinitely.
Mr. Afriyie believes that the suspension of Ashanti Gold was totally wrong.
“The suspension of Ashgold in itself, is wrong under our own statutes. Article 17(2) of our constitution shows us how such a process can be done, thus 50% of the forum is needed to perform such a task, however, we didn’t abide by that, which means you cannot pass”- he said.
