I was awakened at 1:30 am thias night by this question ”why the delay” and what I initially thought to be a dream has denied me sleep throughout this piece.

On September 13, one hazy Monday 2021 Charles Akunnor the then head coach of the Black Stars was jilted off his post by the Ghana football association.

The senior national team had played two matches in the Qatar 2022 world cup qualifiers managing just a win against Ethiopia and a loss to a germinating South African side.

Ghanaians felt displeased with the performances which eventually inflamed decisions to sack Akunnor.

After the sacking of CK came a 72-hour ultimatum to a three-member committee within the FA to find a replacement.

Since that Monday evening to today Wednesday is been a week and two days 22nd September 2021, the 72hr duration has elapsed and it would appear the committee is still on a searching voyage so to speak as to who will succeed CK Akunnor.

Nonetheless, there have been grapevines and speculations within the media landscape of a seeming return of Former head coach Milovan Rajevac.

Whilst this may be true or not, there have been already disgruntled views from a cohort of Ghanaians leading the charges as we wait patiently for that very individual or coach.

Amidst the flurry of speculations and the already disgruntled views, it is important not to be oblivious of time as they’re the spokes we have in our bicycle tyres now. Needless to say that the more the delay, the more disgruntled Ghanaians would be and you might end inflaming emotions.

This is far from stampeding anybody or the committee into acting on any impulse purchasing decision if there isn’t any but the key phrase here, is time is not our ally.

If it’s the grapevine information we have in the media connecting to Milo’s return, I suppose it will be in the best interest of the public to spill the beans, to make clear whoever has been settled on as the next Black Stars coach. In this era of information and media vibrancy when you give room to such niches, you allow the space for sentiments that could be have been avoided.

More so, with few weeks to the Zimbabwe assignment, it behoves the committee or the GFA to disclose the name of the coach just so the bigger Ghanaian football fraternity can know, assess the committee’s work for the coach to quickly get to work to know the players to assemble for the Zimbabwe games.

Whatever thing that’s causing the bottlenecks must swiftly be addressed to outdoor our incoming coach to prevent any knick of time event.

We are waiting!
