Communications and Brands manager of Kumasi-based club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko has revealed the damage the number of injuries has caused during the ongoing 2022/2022 Betpawa Premier League competition. According to him, the rate of injuries in the league has caused most clubs to participate well in the league.

“The rate of injury situations in the GPL is very high, its unfortunate people only notice Kotoko because its players are popular but most teams are suffering. Our season (season) has also gotten its shares as injuries rate have interrupted our campaign right from our first match encounter”

Obeng added that the quality of the pitch has also been a factor as to why players get injured.

“I think the quality of the pitch is also a factor for the high injury rate in our league, let’s be frank with ourselves, these are injury-prone pitches, ideally, the pitches need to be watered before the start of the game, but unfortunately no, some of the pitches are hard. And treating such injuries is costly, Kotoko spends almost 5,000 cedis per game for medics on our players”-he told Sompa TV
