The two-time Former Ghanaian International heavyweight boxing Champion, Azumah Nelson has urged the government of Ghana to invest in the Boxing department of sports in the country.
According to him, he believes that boxing in Ghana has less attention from the government, hence it hinders the progress of the department which eventually has made boxing in Ghana decline to a bad state.
He made this statement on Angel TV after the defeat to Ghanaian boxing international Isaac Dogboe last weekend.
“The government has to invest more in the sport (boxing) than it was during my time”
He added that the lack of equipment has also contributed to the factors that have hindered the progress of boxing in Ghana.
” Lack of equipment and training facilities has made it hard for the boxers and I’m pleading to the government to come in a support them”
