Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah has revealed how painful it is to see how football is being run in the country.
According to the former Juventus player, he has sacrificed a lot during his tenure as the captain of the national team even when all odds and people didn’t see the national team as attractive.
In an interview with Kumasi-based station, Sompa FM, he disclosed how he hurt to see Ghana football going down the drain.
“It hurts to see how some people have turned the national team into, after all, sacrifices made by me, when I look back at how players and stakeholders of the game behave it breaks my heart- he said.
“I had to pay plane tickets for players to honour the call-up, even to the extent of paying winning bonuses at the point when the team was not even attractive, I have sacrificed a lot to see this happen to our sports”- he added.
He, therefore, called on the former players to take a keen interest in ensuring the game comes back to its maximum best.
