Ghana Premier League television right holders StarTimes has sent a heartwarming message to Asante Kotoko supporters following their decision to boycott their product due to the brouhaha with Ghana Football Association.

On matchday one of the 2020/21 league season, Kotoko clashed with Ghana FA after they were initially prevented from filming their home game against Techiman Eleven Wonders for technical purposes by new partners VEO.

Although, they were later allowed their way through, Ghana FA issued a statement few days later banning all clubs and individuals from filming any Premier League games since it goes against the TV right agreement they signed with StarTimes.

That communique has led to a protest by Kotoko supporters as they have began disconnecting their StarTimes packages, while others have resorted to laying off their decoders. This move has forced StarTimes to come out with a petition to the club and it’s supporters.

A tweet from Startimes

We understand the sentiments of all @AsanteKotoko_SC fans but we implore you to stay calm and enjoy the GPL on StarTimes. The @ghanafaofficial will handle the trending issue while we endeavour to bring you the best coverage of THE ONLY LEAGUE THAT MATTERS.— Startimes Ghana (@startimesghana)

Asante Kotoko are ready to refund the $5,000 part payment of television right fee they took from Ghana FA and have sworn not to allow StarTimes to telecast their home games henceforth.

Kotoko will play Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday.
