It was the last but one game of the midweek games of the matchday 28 of 2022/2023 Betpawa Premier League as defending champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko visited Accra-based club, Accra Great Olympics at the WAFA Park after adopting it as their new home grounds after pulling a draw last week.

The Wonder Boys looked more optimistic as they need a win to escape the relegation zone while the Porcupine Warriors title defending aspiration was still on course after mobilizing great support from the fans.

The home team taking charge over the game from the very first minute gave the home fans something to be happy about as they kept the pressure on the visitors and eventually had the opener in the 9th minute through Michael Osei after a sweet header from former Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey’s cross. The Wonder Boys were still dictating the pace of the game as they doubled their lead 30 minutes after via Emmanuel Akesseh which eventually gave them total control in the first half as they headed into the break with the noses upfront.

The second half began as the home team were careful as they managed the game very well which eventually reduced the Porcupine Warriors to 10 men after a last-minute dive from Richmond Lamptey in the dying embers of the game, leaving the defending champions 8 points apart from league leaders Aduana Stars whereas Olympics move away from the relegation zone to the 14th position as they hope to repeat their dominance over Bibiani Goldstars over the weekend while Kotoko will start again against Tamale City.
