Ghana football association executive council member Nana Oduro Sarfo has pointed out that Asante Kotoko players initially boycotted training over non-payment of per diem but his timely intervention saved the situation in the camp.

“The players were scheduled to train this morning but unfortunately refused with reasons that they have been in Sudan for two days but their per diem are yet to be settled,” He told Kumasi-based Light FM.

“The management led by the CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah had a meeting with all the players to resist their decision but they refused.
Nana Yaw Amponsah assured them of full payment back in Accra but the players hesitated.

He added, “because I have worked with a couple of the players, I intervened on the management behalf as the leader of the delegation before things changed positively until Dentaa (MBE) brought money to settle the players fully of their per diem.

“He reiterated that Skipper Felix Annan assured him of qualification to the money zone of Caf champions league but not demotion to the Caf confederation cup playoff.

Asante Kotoko trailed by 1-0 to Sudanese giants Al Hilal in Ghana and are looking forward to qualification to the money zone of Caf champions league in the return leg in Sudan on Wednesday.
