It’s been 22 years since Ghana experienced a very disheartening tragedy as most football fans lost their lives due to a call from a referee. It was a night of darkness, sorrows and pains, lives were lost, properties were destroyed, families were heart broken and most importantly the love for football vanished from the hearts of many Ghanaians.

Over two decades after this experience, have we learnt our lesson as football fanatics or have we now accepted hooliganism as a norm within our sports?

What are the laid down procedures as football stakeholders, that we can employ in ensuring these unforgettable scares in the mind of Ghanaians never repeats itself.

Are our match venues friendly so that we can confidently send our families there, what punishments are designated for people who fall short to this act.

We must say, after 2 decades of this incident, Ghanaians are still suffering from some hooliganism and bad officiating which always triggers the act of the fans which eventually show us a glimpse of My 9th.

As today marks the 22nd anniversary, our focus is on what can we do to end hooliganism in our football at various levels.
