Kumasi Asante Kotoko CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah has admitted that he didn’t seek the consent of the board formally before parting ways with Coach Maxwell Konadu.

“I didn’t write to the Secretary of the board chairman on the axing of Coach Maxwell Konadu and I apologize. I personally informed the board before taking that decision but I admit it was an error on my part to assume an informal communication is a formal communication because in corporate governance only recognized communication is a formal one”. He told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.

Touching on his relationship and why Kotoko parted ways with Maxwell Konadu, he said “Maxwell is my good friend but if you are leading a group of people you decide the supreme interest of that group and consider the timing of the decision. When I came to Kotoko Maxwell was elated because he knows my knowledge in football and what I can do to help Kotoko going forward”

The young football administrator reiterated that Kotoko sacked Coach Maxwell Konadu due to poor results. “I researched Maxwell’s second coming to Kotoko and he played 21 games, 9 wins, 7 draws, and 5 losses. Kotoko should operate around a 50% win ratio over a period of time but unfortunately, Maxwell Konadu had a 42.8% win ratio. Maxwell isn’t a bad coach but some factors and circumstances affected him and once his job is result-based it was prudent to part ways with him”. He added.
