Kevin De Bruyne has been named as the new captain of the Belgium National team following the retirement of the former skipper Eden Hazard after the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar.
Eden Hazard who has lost his place at his club side, Real Madrid has however hanged his boot at the international level as he seeks to focus on club football.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku are the new vice-captains in the team of their new German coach Domenico Tedesco.
“It is a proud moment to be the leader of our country. I have played in the national team for a long time. It is a big honour for me and I hope I can fill the role well,” the 97-time capped De Bruyne said.
The 31-year-old Belgian International, Kevin De Bruyne will however lead the Red Devils as the new captain of the team.
