Accra-based club Accra Lions have been impressive since joining the top-flight league in 2021. However, there have been new faces of board members as today they were unveiled to the media.
Former world cup winner and ex-German footballer Lothar Matthäus has bought Ghana Premier club Accra Lions together with partners Oliver König and ex-Black Stars player Frank Acheampong.
According to Lothar, he is pleased to be part of the Ghanaian club as they hope to identify more talent across the nation.
“We want to bring young players to Europe. In a serious way and already well-trained. That’s why we’re also investing in the training” – he said.
Oliver König who is also a member of the board also made his contribution as to why they believe in the project.
“West Africa has the biggest talent pool in the world. If you love football and want the best talent then West Africa is the place. The hope is that when we provide the best infrastructure, we will see World Class players.”
