Ghanaian giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko are set to switch camp to Alhaji Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale for their home games.
The two time Caf Champions league champions currently depend on Accra Sports stadium for their home games due to the ongoing renovation at Baba Yara sports stadium since the middle of 2019/20 truncated Ghana premier league.
“Accra sports stadium is under intense pressure due to consistent usage by clubs like Accra Hearts of oak, Inter Allies, Great Olympics, and Legon cities FC, we have written to the Ghana football association to switch camp to a different venue which is Tamale sports stadium to ease pressure on the capital stadium”
The club’s communication director, Moses Antwi Benefo told the media.
On their Africa campaign, the mouthpiece of the club said, “Caf has done all the required inspections at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama sports stadium and fortunately, approval has been given to use the stadium for our caf champions league home games”
The porcupine warriors have played one Ghana premier league game at Accra sports stadium within form Techiman XI wonders and it ended in a stalemate.
Kotoko got a crucial away point against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania in the Caf champions league preliminary round and is likely the return leg would be hosted by Alhaji Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale.
