Sportswriters Association of Ghana General secretary, Charles Osei Assibey has stated that the only way to develop the “shambolic” Black Stars is to pave way for a younger generation by axing decade-spent players in the national team.
The Black Stars quest to end the 40-year trophy drought at AFCON 2021 ended abysmally after amassing only a point in 2 losses and a draw.
“I have never opted for players who spend long years in a team, when they stay for long, they become politicians and that is not good for team development,” he told Kumasi based Kessben FM
“If we want to develop the Black Stars again then let’s axe all the players who have spent 10 and more years in the team. The likes of Andre Dede Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso, Jonathan Mensah and Jordan Ayew have no business in the team again. Let’s kick them out, he added.
“The late Alhaji Sly Tetteh taught me one thing which is good for team management. Alhaji will never entertain a player who has spent 6 years in his team. He will only consider you if you have leadership qualities which are subject to a loan abroad” he concluded.
