Kumasi Asante Kotoko has tasted its first loss in the 2020/21 CAF champions league campaign after trailing to Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman at the Accra sports stadium.

It was a crucial encounter between two times Africa champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko and consistent Caf inter-club participants Al Hilal Omdurman in the scorching sun on Wednesday afternoon.
Both sides started the game strongly with the determination of finding the back of the net but the game went into recess in the first half with a goalless scoreline.

In the final half of the game, Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfield in the shape of Kwame Adom Frimpong, Latif Anabila, Godfred Asiamah, and Emmanuel Gyamfi didn’t show enough creativity in the attack and the least chances in the final third of Al Hilal were not delivered by attacking pair William Opoku Mensah and Kwame Poku.
Osman Ibrahim in the 68th minute was introduced in the game for Godfred Asiamah to add quality to the attack while in the 72nd minute Naby Keita and Sulley Muniru were also introduced for Kwame Poku and Emmanuel Gyamfi respectively.
A much determined Al Hilal attack consistently posed threat in the final twenty minutes of the game to tired Kotoko defense, where DR Congo international and substitute Vinny Bongonga got the final and only goal in the game for the visitors in the 76th minute after an unpardonable mistake from Sulley Muniru.

Ivorian referee Bienvenu Sinko eventually ended the game with the Sudanese Giants, Al Hilal Omdurman emerging victorious.

Al Hilal Omduman is now in an advantageous position to secure qualification to the money zone of 2020/21 Caf Champions league but Kumasi Asante Kotoko has another chance to also qualify for the 2nd leg of the competition in Sudan in the coming weeks.
