Accra Hearts of oak board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV has lost his position as President of National House of Chiefs to the Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional area, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II in a keenly contested election held in Kumasi, National house of chiefs conference room.

Togbe Afede was elected in 2016 for a 4-year term and was seeking re-election but polled 25 votes as against 47 votes by Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II. Surprisingly, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV won the election with 25 votes in 2016 but the same 25 votes couldn’t secure his victory in this election.

The newly elected President of National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, Paramount Chief of Sefwi Ahnwiaso traditional area in the Western North region, is a professional accountant and before this election was the Chairman of Governance and Development committee of the National House of Chiefs.

He will be supported by Naa Puowele Karbo III as Vice President who also defeated incumbent Vice President Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Abeadzehen of the Central region by 44 votes as against 28.
