Asante Kotoko recorded a 1-0 victory against rivals, Accra Hearts of oak in a super clash league encounter at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
Irrespective of the marathon points gap between Kotoko and Hearts, the former were much determined to beat the latter for the first time this season in three encounters.
Goal monger, Etouger Mbella got a 17th minute strike and the decider from the spot kick for the Porcupines after Fabio Gama was brought down in the Hearts of oak box.
Accra Hearts of oak were eager for an equalizer and a subsequent lead but eventually trailed by 1-0 for the first time in three encounters with Asante Kotoko.
The Porcupine Warriors have now stretched the Phobians on the league log with 16 points.
