It was the first game of Matchday 2 of the 2023/2024 Betpawa Premier League, as Tamale-based club Real Tamale United visited new babies Bofoakwa Tano at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

With most fans anticipating the return of football in Sunyani, a reflection of that was evident in the number of spectators that turned up on Friday afternoon.

The home team started well as they went ahead just 14 minutes into the game, through a free kick setpiece from Saaka Dauda. This lead however settled the home team, giving them much control over the game with something to cheer up the fans going into the break.

The second half brought a different turn as the visitors kept knocking on the door for their equalizer. Eventually succeeded in getting that through Mohammed Hardi Abdulai which however brought them on level pairs with Bofoakwa Tano.

The home team however kept their cool with the massive cheer from the stands and managed to get the winning goal as Steven Owusu’s 89th-minute strike from the penalty spot sealed the win for Boafoakwa Tano.

However, they become the first new arrival team to grab all three points in the ongoing Betpawa Premier League.

They however move to the first position with 4 points to their credit.

The action continues tomorrow at Dun’s Park as Bibiani Goldstars welcomes Kumasi-based club Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the matchday 2 encounter.
