Birthed on February 1, 2018, as the first regional branch of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Swag-Volta held its end of year meeting cum Soiree on Saturday, December 19, 2020.

The maiden Soiree was like a Christmas come early for members and invitees as there was a variety of food amidst fun, education & entertainment at the SSNIT Restaurant in Ho.

Retired Journalist, Mr Dzokoto Sapenyo gave members a brief talk on Ethics and how they can effectively report on Sports.

GJA-Volta represented by Journalist & Lecturer Harrison Kofi Beley and Kafui Gati while inviting members of Swag-Volta to join GJA-Volta expressed their dissatisfaction on the cutting off or otherwise of Sports times on the various radio stations.

Sporting Associations that also graced the Soiree include the Volta Cricket, Volta Handball, Volta Volleyball, Volta Netball, Volta RFA who gave speeches on their activities.

Chairman of Swag-Volta, Eric Eli Adzie while welcoming all to the event, stressed on the membership of Swag.

We are a branch of the mother body, SWAG who are affiliates to AIPS. We are as well under GJA and we are to protect the interest of our members while promote an affiliated book on Boxing, “Celebration of our World Champions” by Ekow Asmah, was given to invitees as well as hard-working members; Yaw Ansa-Asare, Reginald Ampong, Wisdom Gbemu, Richard Quainoo, and Raymond Tsiagbe.

Swag-Volta at its meeting which preceded the Soiree discussed activities for 2021 not forgetting its Office Space renovation which they’re looking for sponsorship to complete.

A beautifully organised Soiree, led by Tilda Elinam Acorlor and Raymond Tsiagbe saw Cunny Black & Wikid Banks from Folks Music Africa thrill the event with their fantastic lyrics, after which some members, including Chairman, also took the microphone to do their own thing.

Swag-Volta expects a successful 2021.
