END OF THE YEAR- TOP 4

The title race may be between 3 of the very best teams in England at the moment but the race for the 4th position is as tight as ever. With the 4th position the very last chance to enter into Champions League competition all other teams are eager to claim the prize.

West Ham who currently occupy the 4th position stand the chance of losing out, after strong performances against big sides, the London club ironically are struggling against the “lesser clubs”. The slight dip in form has opened up the position for the other contenders.

Manchester United sit in 5th, a point behind West Ham after a win over Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Norwich. Ralph Rangnick’s men are in a very strong position to take advantage of any further slips by the Hammers.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal missed out on the opportunity to leap into the 4th position after West Ham drew against Brighton. Losses to United and Everton but a 3-0 win against Southampton puts them in 6th on 27 points. This is the first time since Arteta’s appointment that the Gunners are contending for top 4.

The direct rivals of the Gunners are also in contention. After a poor start to the season which led to the sack of former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santos and the appointment of former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, the North London club sit in 7th on 25 points with 2 games in hand. Tottenham Hotspurs have the chance to leap above both Arsenal and Manchester United and even West Ham to claim the 4th position.

Leicester City are the wild card in the race for top 4. Although they are 6 points off 4th place, their recent performances give them a boost. An in-form Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Zambian forward Paston Daka and the ever present Jamie Vardy gives them a shot.

We may be just 16 games into the 2021/2022 English Premier League season but the race for Top 4 is ON!!
