It was the second leg of the Total African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Angola as the Blackstars of Ghana took on the Palancas of Angola yesterday night.
After a one-goal draw, some big names were missing from the starting 11 of the Ghanaian squad, which eventually brought up questions as to why they were not fielded.
Among them was Thomas Partey who is an integral member of the team but was not seen in action. According to the head coach Chris Hughton, Partey’s absence was due to injuries and the technical team decided to let him rest for this game.
“Thomas had some small injury issues, and we felt it was so big to take the risk,” he told the press after the game.
