The 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League round of 16 knockout phases saw all four English teams qualifying from the group stages in the quest to reach the last 8 of the competition.

However, none have been able to record a win over their opponents in the R16. With Tottenham Hotspurs losing to AC Milan away from home, Dortmund getting a win over Graham Potter’s side Chelsea in Germany and Real Madrid whitewashed Liverpool at Anfield yesterday making Pep Guardiola’s men the only hope for the English.

RB Leipzig heading into February full of confidence after stringing together an impressive run of 18 competitive unbeaten matches recording 14 wins and 4 draws before their 2-1 loss to Union Berlin a little over a week ago. Marco Rose’s team bounced back last weekend with a 3-0 win away to Wolfsburg and will hope that result can spur them on to seal a repeat of last season’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League (UCL) success here against Manchester City.

Man City is hoping to win the UEFA Champions League and risks losing out on the EPL title race to Arsenal.

Overall, City’s UCL record on the road is one to be admired, losing just five of their last 26 European away games recording 15 wins with 6 Draws. Their form away from the Etihad in recent weeks though does raise a few eyebrows and potentially hints at an upset, with the weekend’s draw against Forest leaving City with just one win from their last five competitive away matches.
