Former Black Stars management committee chairman, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer is sceptical, the Black Stars can end 40 years of AFCON drought in Cameroon due to the poor quality of players.
The astute football administrator, speaking with Joy news said “As a Ghanaian, I will be elated if we win the AFCON but if I put my national colours aside and juxtapose our squad with other countries then we a far behind”
“Look at Egypt, they have Salah who plays for Liverpool, Mane of Senegal plays for Liverpool, Algeria’s Mahrez plays for Manchester city but if look at our team, only Partey plays for a top side like Arsenal so clearly we are behind to win the AFCON” He added.
The four-time AFCON winners last won the elite championship 39 years ago in Libya and are expected to end the tournament drought in the 33rd edition which commences on January 6th to February 9th 2022 in Cameroon.
Ghana is in group c alongside Morocco, Comoros and Gabon.
