With most fans expecting a good draw for their respective clubs, it went down to a repeat of last year’s quarter-finals pairing between London-based club Chelsea and defending Champions Real Madrid as they meet again this year for a slot in the semi-finals.
Chelsea FC progressed to this stage of the competition after a comeback victory over Dortmund in the second leg of the competition after losing by a lone goal in Germany, while Real Madrid who is 14 times champions of the competition progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition after whitewashing Liverpool in their first leg encounter in Anfield. With Chelsea losing only one of their seven games against Real Madrid in European Competitions can the Blues continue this streak or the fortunes will be changed?
Elsewhere, Manchester City faces off with German Champions, Bayern Munich as they seek to grab their first-ever European trophy, after losing to Chelsea in the 2019/2020 season. Peps are very focused as they tend to lift their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy.
Also, it’s the clash of two Italian Giants, as AC Milan faces league leaders of Serie A, Napoli as they battle it all out for the semi-finals. AC Milan missed out on the knockout stage of this competition for 9 years and also considering the form of Napoli as they currently stand a big chance of winning the Italian Serie A title.
Lastly, it’s Inter Milan against Benfica. Inter pushing strongly against FC Porto in the round of 16 will have to deal with Benfica to keep their European hopes alive.
