The final game of the 2022/2023 Malta Guinness women’s Premier league deciding match was on, as Southern zone winners Hasaacas Ladies took on Northern Zone winners Apem Darkoa Ladies as they fight for the bragging right as the champions of the 2022/2023 Malta Guinness women’s Premier league for the third consecutive time.

The Dr. Kwame Kyie Sports Complex was the venue of attraction as Apem Darkoa started off well in the first department of the game, which they dominated every movement of play but could not register a goal as they went into the break on level pairs with Hasaacas Ladies.

The second department of the game started off well as Hasaacas Ladies came into the picture as they got the opener from Doris Boaduwaa on the 60th minutes as they begun to control the affairs of the game, however Apem Darkoa Ladies reacted late in the game through Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah as they came into level terms with Hasaacas Ladies.

The game eventually travelled to the extra time and was however decided from the spot again for two consecutive times as Apem Darkoa Ladies pulled through again 5-3 on penalties as they beat Hasaacas Ladies again to win this year’s Women’s Premier league.

They represent Ghana at the Wafu Zone B championship, where they will seek qualification to the Caf Women’s Champions League. Last year, they couldn’t make it to the Champions League.
