Didier Drogba interview with CAF Online. Drogba emphasized the significance of the AFCON as a celebration of African football.

“Of course, I want Côte d’Ivoire to win. We are going to fight; we are at home and have to demonstrate that we can not only host the competition but also deliver a strong performance,” he stated.

Drogba, the former Chelsea striker, acknowledged Equatorial Guinea’s progress in recent years and welcomed their participation in the tournament.

However, he made it clear that they will have a tough time facing Cote d’Ivoire.

“It’s going to be a celebration of African football with Equatorial Guinea, a team that has been improving every year. We are glad to have them here, and I congratulate them on their victory. But it will be a difficult match against us,” he added.

The two will face off in the final round of the group stage on Monday.

Equatorial Guinea currently leads Group A with four points, having secured one win and one draw.

In contrast, Cote d’Ivoire ranks third in the group with three points from a victory over Guinea Bissau and a loss to Nigeria.

Drogba emphasized the importance of dreaming big and working hard to achieve those dreams.

He also highlighted the value of having a solid educational background and the ability to face life’s challenges.

“You have to dream and give yourself the means to make your dreams come true. It’s also crucial to have a good academic foundation, to excel in studies, and develop a strong educational base that equips you to take on various challenges in life,” Drogba concluded.
