Morocco has been joined by Gabon as the team from Group C to qualify to the next stage of the tournament.
The Moroccan team sealed their spot in the Round of 16 after a 2-0 win over tournament debutant’s Comoros in their second.
Morocco’s Sofiane Boufal seized the opening win for the Atlas Lions against Ghana on a 1-0 score sheet.
But had to share the honours of proceeding to the next stage with Gabon as they drew 2-2 in the final group game.
The Atlas Lions topped Group C with 7 points.
The Panthers of Gabon sailed through to the next stage by drawing against already-qualified side Morocco in a 2-2 scoreline and courtesy of Comoros scoring Ghana by 3 goals to 2.
Patrice Neveu’s side won their first match against Comoros Islanders in a 1-0 victory and drew 1-1 against Ghana in their second game.
They moved through to the knockout stage of the tournament with 5 points.
Meanwhile tournament debutants Comoros claimed the third spot on the Group C table with 3 points after surprising defeating Ghana and winning their first Afcon game.
The Black Stars of Ghana head home from the tournament after clinging to the four spots with 1 point.
